Continuous level measurement in Ammonia Storage tanks
Guided Wave Radar shows excellent results for continuous level measurement in ammonia storage tanks
A reputed power plant in Qatar replaced the existing ultrasonic level transmitters with GWR for accurate and reliable continuous level measurement in ammonia storage tanks.
Benefits
-
Reliable and accurate measurement even for changing product and process conditions
-
Real-time data and diagnostics capabilities with HART protocol
-
Highest reliability due to new Multi-Echo tracking evaluation
-
Enhanced process safety with double ceramic coupling and gas-tight feed through
-
Drive time and cost savings with simple proof test concept according to SIL/WHG
Challenges
Ultrasonic sensors use sound waves, and the heavy vapors of ammonia create different air densities, causing the sound wave to change its velocity as it goes through the different layers. Due to this, the accuracy of Ultrasonic sensor drops drastically, and the readings are not reliable.
Customer was unhappy as they were billed based on their ammonia consumption and were losing money because of nonperformance of the existing device
Our Solution
FMP54 Guided wave radar with gas phase compensation was recommended to the customer.
This provides accurate measurement even for vapor phase for Ammonia application and is an ideal solution for precise level measurement in high density gas applications.
